2025 - 2030
Over the next 5 years I plan to travel to various destinations in the Arctic circle. The journey, staged over this time, allows for empirical study and some fieldwork to be undertaken. I hope to gain an ethnographic view of the Arctic Border with its similarities and contradictions of boundaries and liminal spaces.
Aim: To circumnavigate the Arctic, following the line of latitude 66.33'N, visiting various locations situated on or above the Arctic Circle border
Objective 1: To travel via local transport and observe life, (contemporary v traditional) from a female perspective within the Arctic Anthropocene.
Objective 2: To evaluate the significance of cultural identity and traditional heritage, the education of local culture and ancestral traditions. Identifying the expectations of local community and visitors to the region, i.e. hosts and guests presumptions of authenticity.
Objective 3: To photo document the journey using digital analogue methods of black and white photography
