AIM: To travel to various locations situated on or above the Arctic Circle border, following the line of latitude to circumnavigate the Arctic rim
OBJECTIVE 1: To document life in its contemporary form, specifically from a female perspective. this navigates the expectations of local community and visitors to the region, hosts and guests.
OBJECTIVE 2: To establish the significance of traditional heritage, the education of local culture and tradition and identify realistic expectations of authenticity.
OBJECTIVE 3: To photo document the journey using analogue methods i.e. black and white film photography
Suggested ITINERARY (subject to change)
Part 1: October 2025 - Norway
Travelling by public transport to Bodø via Oslo, Trondhein and Mo I Rana, to research Sámi Peoples relationship with tourism.
Part 2: February 2026 - Sweden
Travelling from Kiruna to Luleå via Jokkmokk to attend the annual Sámi festival and research the celebration of Sámi life.
Part 3: November 2026 - Finland
Travelling to Rovaniemi by public transport to document the preparation of Christmas season and the Sámi cultural authenticity relating to 'Santa' (the commercial productivity of Rovaniemi)
Part 4: 2027 - Iceland (TBC)
Akureyri - Raufarhöfn via Grimsey island
Part 5: 2027 - Greenland (TBC)
